Welcome to Quella Persona!

Quella (pronounced K-la) Persona is an Italian term for "That Person." My grandmother, Nonnie, was able to get away with talking about her grandchildren right in front of us without us knowing by calling us "Quella Persona." I would hear her say to my aunt in her thick Italian accent, "Oh boy! Quella Persona has Pep on Gool!" "Pep on Gool" is literally translated "Pepper on the Cooly" which means someone, sometimes it was me, was hyper and out of control! It worked. I never knew she was referring to me until I got older and she would say to me about one of my younger cousins, "Ooooh, Gina! Quella Persona sure has Pep on Gool!" And then we would laugh as Alex would fly out of the room or fall off his chair.

Or really I should title it: What is Gina all about? I can answer that for you in one word; Family. My father taught me that Family comes first. My mother taught me how to be a mother, the one thing I consistently wanted to be when I grew up. She also instilled in me the belief that I could do whatever I wanted in life as long as I was willing to work hard and not give up. Motherhood isn't hard but it isn't easy either. A close friend once told me, "Motherhood isn't for wusses!" And boy, was she right! Photography, well that is just fun! Being asked to photograph other families isn't a job to me. It is truly a privilege and an honor.

This blog is dedicated to all families...my own and all the other wonderful families I meet.

lori & cowboy

Today’s photo-shoot was one of firsts for me. Lori is my first Groupon client! Wooo-Hooo!!! I was a little nervous meeting someone completely new. All of my business has been generated by word of mouth but as you can see, she is quite normal. Not just normal, but very nice and extremely photogenic. Another first was Cowboy, her 1-year-old healer puppy. Most of my clients are children. I know how to entertain children. I do not know the first thing about photographing very energetic puppies! I really think the only way Cowboy was going to look at me was if I had a squirrel on my head…which is one trick I haven’t yet tried. But since I prefer photographing dogs and children looking away and interested in something other than me, it all worked out.

Lori is the president and CEO of Predix. It is, if I understand it completely, a business consulting firm that helps other businesses select and place their employees in the job positions that fit perfectly with their specific talents and strengths. If you have your own business I would imagine her services would be of benefit in ensuring happy employees and therefore great success all around. In addition to being very beautiful, Lori is smart too. So, in addition to photos with Cowboy, we also did a few professional shots for her portfolio and website.

Here’s a lucky shot I got of Cowboy while his attention was fixed on another dog across the street. I love the way his one ear falls back while the other one sticks straight up!
