I have a confession to make…I don’t really know much about teenagers. It seems I am able to best relate to children from the age of nine, down. That is probably because I have a nine-year-old. So, when my friends Deb & Jim asked if I would photographer their kids before her oldest leaves for college…I was a little bit nervous.

I knew enough to know that promises of candy or silly faces and rude noises would not win a fifteen-year-old boy over too my side. So I had to resort to my first, tried and true method…which is taking them to an interesting place and just standing back and watching. So I told Deb to meet me, but where else…my new favorite location…the rope swing!

This is Kate. Isn’t she beautiful?!?! She will be leaving the nest soon. Oh, I am sure Deb’s heart is breaking…just the thought of my first born leaving for college makes me cry. However, in addition to missing Kate, now Deb will be woefully outnumbered!

This is Kevin & Chris…or is it Chris & Kevin? They are identical twin fifteen year old boys. So close to manhood, yet still able to get in touch with their boy side.

Yeah, maybe not what Deb imagined for a family portrait of her kids…but I would take this over forced and phony smiles any day!
